First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding extra stitches around the surgical connection in laparoscopic low rectal cancer surgery can reduce the risk of leakage, a serious complication. About 300 adults with low rectal cancer will be assigned to either standard surgery or surgery with reinforced stitching. Researchers will compare leakage rates, recovery time, and quality of life to find the safer approach.
