Rehab showdown: which therapy eases back pain from slipped vertebrae?
NCT ID NCT07419256
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed study tested two 4-week rehabilitation programs in 58 adults aged 60-75 with mild spondylolisthesis (a slipped vertebra). One group did exercises plus physical therapy; the other did exercises plus myofascial trigger point therapy. Researchers measured pain, disability, balance, and trunk strength to see which approach worked better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
rehabilitation program (kinesiotherapy plus either physical therapy or myofascial trigger point therapy)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a better, non-surgical way to reduce pain and improve mobility in older adults with spondylolisthesis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 58 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two types of therapy, not against a placebo, so benefits may be modest.
