Summary
This study tested a non-drug program called BE-SMART-DR in 65 teens and young adults with bipolar disorder or major depression who had suicidal thoughts or past attempts. The therapy teaches self-guided strategies to regularize sleep and daily routines, aiming to lower short-term suicide risk and improve brain function. Participants learned skills they can use lifelong to potentially reduce long-term risk.
