Can you cut your arthritis meds without flaring up? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07160231
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether people with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or axial spondyloarthritis who are doing well on a JAK inhibitor can safely reduce their dose. About 200 participants will either lower their dose or stay on the same dose, guided by disease activity. The goal is to see if the lower dose keeps the disease under control just as well after 12 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- JAK inhibitor dose reduction strategy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that many patients can safely lower their JAK inhibitor dose without losing disease control, reducing side effects and costs.
- What could go wrong
- This is a Phase 4 trial with 200 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Lowering the dose might lead to disease flares in some patients.
