New combo therapy aims to save rectums in advanced cancer patients
NCT ID NCT06864013
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new treatment for people with locally advanced rectal cancer that has not spread. The treatment combines short-course radiation, chemotherapy, and two immunotherapy drugs (iparomlimab and tuvonralimab). The goal is to see if this approach can shrink the tumor enough to avoid surgery and preserve the rectum. About 116 adults aged 18 to 75 with a specific type of rectal cancer (MSS or pMMR) will participate.
