First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a brief increase in airway pressure after suctioning can reopen collapsed lung areas and improve lung volume in ICU patients on ventilators. About 32 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either suctioning alone or suctioning followed by a recruitment maneuver. The goal is to see if this simple step helps maintain better lung function.
