Tiny study probes rare pancreatitis after clot removal
NCT ID NCT07450898
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will review the medical records of 10 patients who developed acute pancreatitis within two weeks after a procedure to remove blood clots (percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy). The goal is to find out how often this complication happens, what patient or procedure factors might increase the risk, and how these cases were managed. The results may help doctors better prevent and treat this rare but serious complication.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could help doctors identify patients at higher risk for pancreatitis after clot removal and improve prevention or early treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small study (only 10 people) that looks back at past cases, so it cannot prove cause and effect. The results may not apply to all patients.
