New pill plus chemo takes on deadly pancreatic cancer in huge trial
NCT ID NCT07491445
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase 3 trial tests a new drug called daraxonrasib, taken as a pill, either alone or with standard chemotherapy, against chemotherapy alone for people with metastatic pancreatic cancer. About 900 adults with confirmed pancreatic cancer that has spread will be randomly assigned to one of three groups. The goal is to see if the new drug helps people live longer or keeps the cancer from growing.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- daraxonrasib (a RAS inhibitor drug taken as pills), gemcitabine (chemo given by IV), nab-paclitaxel (chemo given by IV)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new first-line treatment option for people with metastatic pancreatic cancer, potentially extending life or slowing tumor growth.
- What could go wrong
- This is a large phase 3 trial, but the drug is still investigational. It may not improve outcomes over standard chemo, and side effects from the combination could be significant.
