New stitch technique may cut Post-Surgery fluid collections

NCT ID NCT07512141

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at a different way of stitching after breast removal surgery to prevent fluid buildup (seroma) and infection. Normally, two drains are placed, but here doctors will use quilting stitches to attach skin to muscle and compare using one drain versus two. The goal is to see if one drain works just as well with fewer complications.
