Nerve block may cut opioid need after pelvic surgery

NCT ID NCT06309693

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a quadratus lumborum (QL) nerve block can lower pain and the need for opioid painkillers after robotic surgery for pelvic organ prolapse. Seventy women were randomly assigned to receive either standard enhanced recovery care or a QL block. Researchers measured pain scores and opioid use right after surgery to see if the block offers extra relief.
