Tooth inflammation study seeks biomarkers to tell reversible from irreversible damage
NCT ID NCT06936553
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This completed study looked at 51 people with healthy teeth, reversible pulpitis (mild inflammation), or irreversible pulpitis (severe inflammation). Researchers measured three inflammation-related proteins (IL-8, FGF-1, and VEGF) in tooth pulp, gum fluid, and dentin fluid. The goal was to see if these markers could help tell the difference between tooth conditions that can heal and those that need root canal treatment.
