Dialysis Patients' hidden Heart-Lung risk under the microscope

NCT ID NCT07563608

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is tracking 70 adults on long-term dialysis to find out how often they develop high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) and what causes it. Participants get heart ultrasounds and, if needed, more tests to confirm the condition. Researchers will follow them for two years to see how their health changes and to improve treatment guidelines.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors better understand and manage pulmonary hypertension in dialysis patients, potentially improving their care and outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test a new therapy. The findings may not apply to all dialysis patients, and the small size (70 participants) limits how broadly the results can be used.
