First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether psyllium, a type of fiber, can reduce belly pain and bloating in children with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) who are sensitive to fructans (a sugar found in many foods). About 110 kids aged 12-17 will eat a special diet and take either psyllium or a placebo to see if symptoms improve. The goal is to find a simple, natural way to manage IBS symptoms without medication.
