Robot surgery gets a High-Tech eye: new fusion imaging targets prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT07272317

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests a new imaging system that combines PSMA-PET, MRI, and ultrasound to guide robot-assisted prostate surgery. The goal is to help surgeons remove all cancer while sparing healthy tissue, nerves, and urinary control. About 98 men with prostate cancer will take part to see if this approach lowers the chance of leftover cancer cells and speeds up recovery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

PSMA-PET/MRI-ultrasound multimodal fusion navigation system

What this could lead to

If successful, this could make prostate cancer surgery more precise, reducing the chance of leftover cancer cells and helping men recover urinary control faster.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage trial with only 98 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The technology is complex and may not work as well in real-world settings.
