New scan could spot dangerous prostate cancer earlier

NCT ID NCT03471650

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests a special PET/CT scan that targets a protein (PSMA) on prostate cancer cells to see if it can better detect aggressive prostate cancer compared to the standard PSA blood test. About 150 men with elevated PSA levels will receive the scan before their routine prostate biopsy. The goal is to improve diagnosis and reduce unnecessary biopsies.
