First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether injecting a patient's own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the colon after balloon dilation can prevent the colon from narrowing again in people with Crohn's disease. About 74 participants will receive either a high or low concentration of PRP during the procedure. The main goal is to see if this combination reduces the rate of re-narrowing.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a way to reduce the need for repeat procedures or surgery for colon narrowing in Crohn's disease.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study without a control group, so results may not be conclusive. The benefit of PRP for this use is not yet proven.
