Targeted radiation tested for rare skull tumor

NCT ID NCT00496522

Summary

This study is testing whether proton beam radiation therapy can help control a rare type of skull base tumor called chondrosarcoma. Fifteen patients who have already had surgery to remove as much tumor as possible will receive daily proton beam treatments for about 7 weeks. Researchers will track how long it takes for the tumor to return and monitor the treatment's safety and side effects over 5 years of follow-up visits.
