Gene score may predict prostate cancer worsening

NCT ID NCT07491406

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 185 men with low-risk prostate cancer who chose active surveillance (monitoring instead of immediate treatment). Researchers used a genetic test called a polygenic risk score to see if it could predict which men would have their cancer get worse over time. The goal is to help doctors personalize monitoring and avoid unnecessary treatments for those at lower risk.
