New scan may spot prostate cancer return months before standard tests

NCT ID NCT07210086

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special type of PET scan (PSMA-PET) and a blood test for tumor DNA can detect prostate cancer progression earlier than the standard PSA test. About 50 men with prostate cancer that has spread to a few spots will receive targeted radiation. Researchers will then track how the cancer responds over 12 months using scans and blood tests. The goal is to improve monitoring and guide future treatment decisions.
