Phone Check-Ins track prostate cancer in men with BRCA mutations

NCT ID NCT07416812

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study followed 25 men who carry BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations (and a control group of non-carriers) to see if they developed prostate cancer. Researchers called participants to update their medical history and check for new diagnoses. The goal is to learn how to better screen men with a higher genetic risk for prostate cancer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help design better prostate cancer screening programs for men with inherited genetic mutations.

What could go wrong

This is a very small follow-up study (25 participants) that only collects information by phone, so it cannot prove any new screening method works.
