Triple threat: new combo aims to tame metastatic prostate cancer
NCT ID NCT03246347
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether adding enzalutamide to standard hormone therapy and chemotherapy can better control metastatic prostate cancer that still responds to hormones. About 40 men with advanced disease will receive all three drugs. The main goal is to see how many achieve a very low PSA level at one year, with secondary goals including tumor shrinkage and survival.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), docetaxel, and enzalutamide
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a more effective way to control metastatic prostate cancer for longer, potentially delaying disease progression.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (40 participants) with no placebo group. The added drug may increase side effects without clear benefit, and results may not apply to all patients.
