New database to track freezing therapy for prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT07184957

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study will create a database to record what happens to men with localized prostate cancer who choose cryotherapy (freezing the tumor). Researchers will track complications and how long it takes for PSA levels to rise again, which could signal the cancer's return. Up to 1,000 participants will be followed over time to gather real-world data on this treatment's effectiveness.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

cryotherapy (freezing treatment)

What this could lead to

If successful, this database could help doctors better understand how well cryotherapy works for localized prostate cancer and improve treatment decisions.

What could go wrong

This is an observational database, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test a new therapy. Results may take years and might not lead to immediate changes in care.
