New study aims to help men with prostate cancer skip unnecessary treatment
NCT ID NCT05424783
First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026
Summary
This study enrolls 222 men with low-risk prostate cancer to see if using MRI and a genetic test (Genomic Prostate Score) helps them stick with active surveillance (monitoring instead of immediate treatment). Researchers will compare how well these men follow monitoring schedules versus those in an earlier study who had fewer or no tests. The goal is to find the right balance of testing to catch dangerous tumors early while avoiding unnecessary biopsies and treatments.
