MRSA decolonization strategy shows promise in large hospital study
NCT ID NCT01209234
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving MRSA carriers a special body wash and nasal ointment (decolonization) after leaving the hospital could prevent future MRSA infections compared to standard education. Over 2,100 adults with a recent MRSA-positive test took part. The goal was to see if this approach could lower infection rates and re-hospitalizations in this high-risk group.
