Which biopsy method best spots aggressive prostate cancer? major trial launches
NCT ID NCT06303622
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two ways to guide prostate biopsies using MRI: cognitive-guided (doctor mentally aligns images) and MRI-ultrasound fusion (computer overlays images). It aims to see which method finds more clinically significant prostate cancers. The trial will enroll 1,250 men with suspicious MRI lesions and a PSA under 20.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this trial could show which biopsy method is better at finding aggressive prostate cancers, helping doctors choose the most accurate approach.
What could go wrong
This is a diagnostic comparison study, not a treatment trial. It may not change outcomes directly, and results depend on the skill of the doctors performing the biopsies.
