NCT ID NCT06751563

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested two ways to help adults with overweight or obesity who struggle to afford healthy food. One group got weekly vouchers to buy produce at a local market; the other got fresh produce delivered to their home along with daily text messages about healthy eating. The goal was to see which approach people liked better and whether it helped them eat more fruits and vegetables and lose weight. The study was small, with 48 participants, and focused on figuring out the best way to run such a program.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

produce boxes and text messages

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that delivering fresh produce and healthy-eating tips directly to people's homes helps them eat better and lose weight.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study with only 48 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It tests feasibility, not whether the approach actually works long-term.
