Can friendly bacteria boost gut treatment? study investigates
NCT ID NCT06223685
Summary
This study tested whether adding probiotic supplements to standard antibiotic treatment helps people with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). 129 participants with SIBO received a 14-day antibiotic course. Half also took probiotics, while the other half took a placebo (inactive pill). Researchers measured changes in bloating, bowel habits, and other gut symptoms over several months to see if the probiotics made the treatment more effective.
