First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a probiotic called Ecologic Barrier to standard treatment helps adults with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) who also have stomach issues and anxiety, depression, or stress. Sixty participants will receive either standard care or standard care plus the probiotic for two months. Researchers will track IBS severity, mood changes, and side effects over 12 weeks.
What this could mean

Active substance
Ecologic Barrier (multispecies probiotic mixture)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, safe supplement to reduce IBS symptoms and related anxiety or depression.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 60 people. The probiotic may not outperform standard treatment, and results may not apply to everyone with IBS.
