Aquamin study probes gut barrier changes in digestive disorders
NCT ID NCT04855799
First seen Jun 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed Phase 2 trial tested whether Aquamin, a mineral supplement, changes how leaky the gut is in people with ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea, and healthy individuals. 35 participants took Aquamin for 90 days, and researchers measured gut permeability using urine tests. The goal was to understand how Aquamin might affect the gut barrier, not to treat or cure any condition.
