Can immunoglobulin or antibiotics stop infections in blood cancer patients?
NCT ID NCT07202052
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares immunoglobulin (given through a vein or under the skin) with antibiotics to see which better prevents severe infections in people with blood cancers like myeloma, lymphoma, or leukemia who have low antibody levels. About 900 adults will take part. The goal is to find the safest and most effective strategy to keep these patients infection-free.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Immunoglobulin (IV or subcutaneous) and antibiotics
What this could lead to
If successful, this could establish a standard way to prevent serious infections in people with blood cancers who have low antibody levels.
What could go wrong
This is an early-to-mid-stage trial, so results may not confirm which approach is best. The study compares existing treatments, so no new drug is being tested.
