New breathing tube removal method may protect fragile preterm lungs
NCT ID NCT07251790
First seen Dec 19, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests a new approach for removing breathing tubes in very premature babies (born before 32 weeks). Instead of taking the tube out first and then starting gentle breathing support, doctors will start the support before removing the tube. The goal is to see if this keeps babies' oxygen levels more stable and reduces the need to put the tube back in. About 134 babies will take part.
