Prepping for knee surgery with exercise may boost results

NCT ID NCT06290336

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether doing supervised exercise and learning about recovery before total knee replacement helps patients feel better and function better one year after surgery. About 110 adults with knee osteoarthritis awaiting surgery will be randomly assigned to either the prehabilitation program or standard care. The main goals are to see if the program improves how aware patients are of their knee and how well they cope after surgery.

What this could lead to

What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial (110 participants) and the benefits may be modest. The intervention requires time and commitment, and results may not apply to everyone.
