New approach cuts powerful painkiller use for injured patients
NCT ID NCT04705480
Summary
This study tested whether adding either pregabalin or gabapentin to standard opioid painkillers could help reduce the total amount of opioids needed by patients recovering from bone injuries. It involved 109 hospitalized adults with orthopedic trauma who were expected to stay more than a day. Patients were randomly assigned to receive one of the added medications or just standard care, and researchers tracked their pain levels and medication use for up to seven days.
