Massive study aims to predict deadly liver clots in cirrhosis patients
NCT ID NCT07422701
First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study will follow about 2,500 adults with liver cirrhosis to learn why some develop a dangerous blood clot in the liver's main vein (portal vein thrombosis). Researchers will review past cases and track new patients for two years to build a prediction tool, measure how the clot affects survival, and see if blood-thinners help without causing major bleeding. Participation does not change standard care.
