Can a music and Brain-Training app boost reading in kids with dyslexia?
NCT ID NCT06592911
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed study tested a digital app called Poppins Clinical in 306 children with dyslexia or other reading/writing learning disabilities. The app combines musical and cognitive exercises with reading training. One group used the app plus bi-monthly speech therapy, while the control group had weekly speech therapy alone. The goal was to see if the app could match standard therapy in improving reading skills.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Poppins Clinical (a digital app providing cognitive and musical training)
What this could lead to
If successful, this app could offer a convenient, at-home supplement to speech therapy, potentially reducing the need for frequent clinic visits while maintaining reading improvements.
What could go wrong
This is a non-inferiority trial, meaning it aims to show the app is not worse than standard care, not necessarily better. The study is completed but results are not yet widely available, so real-world benefits remain unconfirmed.
