Pollution alerts tested as asthma aid for children
NCT ID NCT07261423
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving children with asthma and their families Air Quality Index (AQI) information helps improve asthma control. 351 children will receive either EPA or commercial AQI education plus an asthma action plan, or standard care. Over 48 weeks, researchers will track asthma control scores, quality of life, and nasal gene changes to see if pollution awareness makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Air Quality Index (AQI) education and usage instructions
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give families a simple tool to reduce asthma flare-ups triggered by outdoor air pollution.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a drug trial. The effect may be small, and results depend on families consistently using the AQI information.
