Virtual asthma clinic after hospital discharge aims to cut repeat attacks
NCT ID NCT07629830
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a structured remote clinic using video calls can reduce the number of severe asthma attacks in adults who have just been discharged from the hospital after an asthma flare-up. 220 participants will be randomly assigned to either two remote pulmonology visits (plus phone check-ins) or standard community care. The goal is to see if early specialist follow-up from home can improve asthma control and lower the risk of another attack.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
structured remote pulmonology follow-up via video consultation
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a convenient way to prevent repeat asthma attacks and improve long-term control without in-person visits.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage study (220 people) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply broadly. The remote format may not suit everyone, and standard care already includes some follow-up.
