New CT scanner could spot hidden liver tumors better

NCT ID NCT06753903

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares a new type of CT scanner (photon-counting CT) to MRI for finding liver tumors that have spread from colorectal cancer. About 100 adults with colorectal cancer will get both scans, and researchers will check if the new CT is as good as MRI at spotting small tumors. If successful, this could give doctors a faster, lower-radiation way to plan treatment and improve chances of surgery and survival.
