Light therapy shows promise in brain tumor pilot
NCT ID NCT03048240
First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether a light-activated treatment (photodynamic therapy) can be safely added to standard surgery for glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Ten adults with probable glioblastoma received the treatment during tumor removal. The main goal was to see if at least 6 out of 10 patients could complete the full treatment without serious unexpected side effects. Researchers also tracked how long patients lived without the cancer growing.
