First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study compares phone-based physiotherapy follow-ups to in-person visits after lumbar spine surgery. Researchers want to see if phone calls can provide the same quality of care while saving healthcare resources and reducing patient travel. 200 patients who had spine surgery at Aalborg University Hospital will take part, and their recovery and disability levels will be measured using a standard questionnaire.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Telephone physiotherapy follow-up
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that phone follow-ups are a safe, effective alternative to in-person visits after spine surgery, saving time and resources.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with 200 participants. Phone follow-ups may miss important physical signs, and results may not apply to all patients or surgeries.
