Dietary intervention aims to stop brain fog in liver patients after TIPS

NCT ID NCT07634237

First seen Jun 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a personalized nutritional plan can prevent a serious brain condition (hepatic encephalopathy) in people with liver cirrhosis who undergo a TIPS procedure for fluid buildup. About 50 moderately malnourished patients will be randomly assigned to either the special diet or standard care. The main goal is to see if the diet reduces the number of patients who develop confusion or other brain symptoms after the procedure.
