Gum disease and osteoporosis: hidden link in older women?

NCT ID NCT07294105

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study examined 80 postmenopausal women to see if there is a connection between gum (periodontal) disease and osteoporosis. Researchers measured two substances in blood and gum fluid called sclerostin and TNF-α, which may help explain how these conditions affect each other. The goal was to gather knowledge, not to test a treatment.
