New registry aims to improve bile duct stone removal

NCT ID NCT05210322

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is a registry that collects information from patients who have a procedure called percutaneous cholangiopancreatoscopy (PCPS). During PCPS, doctors use a tiny camera to see inside the bile ducts and remove stones or take tissue samples. The goal is to learn how well the procedure works and how it affects patients' recovery. About 679 adults at several U.S. hospitals will have their data recorded for up to three years.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this registry could help doctors better understand how to remove bile duct stones or diagnose blockages with fewer complications.

What could go wrong

This is an observational registry, not a treatment trial. It collects existing data and does not test a new drug or therapy, so it cannot directly lead to a cure.
