Can a simple anesthetic choice prevent Post-Surgery vomiting?
NCT ID NCT07758803
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial compares three common anesthetics—propofol, ciprofol, and remimazolam—to see which one leads to the least nausea and vomiting after gallbladder removal surgery. About 114 adults having laparoscopic cholecystectomy will be randomly assigned to one of the three drugs. The main goal is to measure how many patients experience nausea or vomiting within the first 24 hours after surgery. The findings could help doctors choose the best anesthetic to improve patient comfort and recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Three anesthetic drugs: propofol, ciprofol, and remimazolam
- What this could lead to
- If one anesthetic proves better, it could help reduce nausea and vomiting after gallbladder surgery, leading to faster recovery and less discomfort for patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single-center trial with 114 patients, so results may not apply broadly. Also, individual responses to anesthetics vary, and the best drug may not work for everyone.
