New hope for hemophilia a patients with inhibitors: PCC trial targets bleeding episodes

NCT ID NCT07406139

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a medicine called prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC) to stop bleeding episodes in people with hemophilia A who have developed inhibitors (antibodies that block standard treatment). Thirty participants aged 12 to 65 will receive PCC on-demand during bleeding, with doses adjusted based on bleeding type. The goal is to see how well and safely PCC controls bleeding within 24 hours.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a reliable on-demand treatment option to stop bleeding episodes in people with hemophilia A who have inhibitors.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase exploratory study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. There is also a risk that PCC may not control bleeding effectively in all cases.
