First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at whether tissue samples taken during a routine colonoscopy can find signs of Parkinson's disease. Researchers want to see if a protein called alpha-synuclein is present in the colon of people with Parkinson's. The goal is to catch the disease earlier, before movement problems become severe. The study involves 20 adults aged 40 to 99 who already have a Parkinson's diagnosis and are scheduled for a colonoscopy.
