Brain-Training exercise games aim to stop Parkinson's falls

NCT ID NCT05986643

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether combining exercise video games (exergaming) with real-time brainwave feedback can improve balance in people with Parkinson's disease. One hundred participants will be randomly assigned to either exergaming alone or exergaming plus neurofeedback, training three times a week for 12 weeks. The goal is to see if this approach reduces falls and improves quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Exergaming with neurofeedback (EEG-based brainwave training)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new, non-drug way to improve balance and reduce falls in people with Parkinson's, potentially improving quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage trial with only 100 participants, and it's testing a novel combination of exercise and brain feedback. The results may not apply to all people with Parkinson's, and the benefit may be small or not last long.
