Smart bassinets and mentors: a new rx for doctor mom burnout?

NCT ID NCT06014892

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving pregnant trainee doctors extra support—like a smart bassinet, wearable breast pump, 24/7 online perinatal care, and a faculty mentor—could reduce burnout and improve wellbeing. 156 pregnant residents and fellows from four hospitals were randomly assigned to receive either this support package or standard care. Researchers tracked sleep with a Fitbit and used surveys to measure burnout, professional fulfillment, and medical errors.
