Experimental combo therapy targets Hard-to-Treat pancreatic cancer
NCT ID NCT06205849
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether injecting an immune-boosting drug (mitazalimab) directly into the tumor during a special electrical ablation procedure (IRE) is safe for people with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The goal is to see if this approach can strengthen the body's immune response against the cancer and lower the chance of it coming back. The study involves 18 participants and focuses on safety and side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mitazalimab (a CD40 antibody) injected into the tumor during irreversible electroporation (IRE) surgery
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new way to treat locally advanced pancreatic cancer by combining a targeted immune therapy with a tumor-destroying procedure.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 18 participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet proven. There is a risk of serious side effects from the drug or procedure, and the treatment may not work for everyone.
