NCT ID NCT02591407

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at 200 adults having planned colorectal surgery for colon cancer, rectal cancer, or diverticulosis. It compared two ways to manage pain during and after surgery: a TAP block (injecting numbing medicine into the abdominal wall) versus epidural anesthesia (injecting medicine near the spine). The goal was to see which method provides better pain control and helps patients recover faster. Participants reported their pain levels and overall benefit from pain treatment for several days after surgery.
